Winter Time = Slow Time

We are creeping up on the winter months which means it will be a little slow in the moving industry. One thing to remember is that it is cooler so our men can actually work faster. Being in Texas that is a good thing, as the summers are so hot that the men really have to pace themselves to get their moves done.
Moving companies will also be more willing to negotiate on the price of your move, which in this economy is a very good thing for the customer. Best Movers Dallas will always try to work with a customer to try and save them money no matter what time of year it is.
Another way to get deals for you and your friends is to like moving companies on facebook or Google+ as they might run a special for social media followers.
All in all winter is the best time for moving and would be a good time for customers to plan their next move. Remember make sur to ask if there are any discounts or winter specials...

Making Your Move Easier.

So it's time to move and your planning on hiring movers one thing you need to do is make sure that everything is packed so that nothing is rattling. Make sure that your movers have a good understanding of everthing you have, so that they bring the right sized equipment. Inform them of any obstacles, such as stairs and long walks.
I will add more to this blog as needed as new things come up daily in the moving business.

Google Places

So I have been on Google Places since the start so you would think that this is a good thing, Right, not so true. They have been doing all this updating and changing over that is supposed to help both the customer and the business, not so true.

For the last 4 months I have been getting the fatal "We do not currently support this location" bug, this has devasted my business as Movers is the most searched keyword for my business.

Can you imagine going from a annual salary of $200,000.00 + to $100,000.00 in less than a month? Well that is what I have been facing.

I have had to let go of Movers and now sit here with 1 crew that I can barely keep working. Looking for other avenues is all I do now and it is hard to find any that were as good as Google Places.

I have emailed them and all I get is the same old song and dance about how they are working on the issue and that I need to be patient, tell that to the 4 families that were relying on the income that I was providing them.

If you are smart you would work on getting your listings on other search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and the many others out there before Google shuts you down also.

By the way if you are in the Dallas area and need some Movers give us a shout.

Moving Companies and SEO Companies

I have been in the moving industry since the days of the phone book.  It used to be much easier to get new clients and find new moving jobs.  Movers paid for an add in the phone book and people looked there and called.  Now it has become much more difficult to capture peoples attention and get new customers.  Business owners especially movers have had to start becoming more and more dependent upon SEO Companies.  There are thousands out there some are good I am sure but most are dreadfully bad.  I recently in early 2011 decided to go through a marketing company that made everything sound so simple.  They made it sound like they knew all the secrets to get on the front page of Google.  This was however not the case.

This marketing company 411 local, local 411, 411 service or whatever they want to call themselves is writing fake reviews on my business and on hundreds of other businesses across the united states.  This is a gross violation of Google guidelines.  I have cancelled service with them but they have still continued to write false reviews on my business.  Now actual consumers have written negative reviews about my company and have chosen not to do business with my moving company due to the false reviews.  I can not get them to stop writing them either. They did not disclose that they would be making up false reviews in order to try and get my business ranked online or I would not have gone through their service.  If you look at my business listing online and click on the reviewers name and look at the reviews written by the individual you will see that reviews were written by the same person.  The reviews were written for businesses all over the United States in a very short period of time if not the same day.  These are obviously fake reviews.  Shame on you, dirty SEO Company.

I was very fortunate that someone called and took the time to make me aware of the false statements being made about my company.  I have since found a very good SEO company that is helping me resolve the issue and seems to be doing very well generating new business inside of Google Places Guidelines.  A note to all business owners avoid 411 locals or 411 service they can do detrimental damage do your business online.
